The mongoose are primarily found in Africa and all over the continent. They vary in color depending where on the continent they are found. They can be brown or gray and have various different looking tails. Also, yellow mongoose are usually smaller than most mongooses. They usually range in length from about 9 to 13 inches. Furthermore, their tail can be as long as their body is. It can range from about 7 to 10 inches. Also, the yellow mongoose can weigh anywhere from 16 to 29 ounces. As you can tell, they are in fact pretty small organisms. They tend to look very similar to a weasel or ferret. This is a picture of a yellow mongoose which is the organism that this website will be mostly talking about. You can start off by learning about the Classification of the Yellow Mongoose.

I am sure you know that Mongoose is the animal that keeps snakes away; yes Rikki-Tikki-Tavi who saves the whole family from the cobra. No, there are many more interesting facts about this carnivorous mammal. These are found abundantly in South Asia and Africa. These mammals are terrestrial and are active hunters which feed on eggs and other smaller animals like frogs, insects and worms. Some of them do supplement their diet with fruits and nuts. In India, it is a common animal; most of the snake charmers also have a mongoose since they can be easily domesticated and can be taught the simple tricks.
